Burden Of Proof The Greg Kelley Case
"Burden of Proof: The Greg Kelley Case" is a fact-based, commentary-free examination of the entire saga of 19 year old Gregory Raymond Kelley of Leander, Texas.
On August 9, 2013 Kelley, an All-District defensive back for Leander High School, was arrested and subsequently charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child; a four year old boy.
This 19 minute documentary is done in the style of Brett Morgen's ESPN 30 for 30 film "June 17, 1994" and emulates Morgen's technique of telling the story using only archival news footage, some of it in raw, unmediated form, never meant to be seen; there are no talking heads, no present perspective apart from a few final title cards briefly sketching subsequent events. There is no backward look, no summing up, no thoughts recollected in tranquility or continuing anger, only the emotion of the moment. This documentary presents only the facts and includes all perspectives.
As the Kelley case continues to receive considerable media attention in the greater Austin area which fueled the passions of those supporting the young victims and those supporting Kelley, who in July 2014 was convicted of two counts of super aggravated sexual assault against a child, the facts and reality of this saga seem to have been lost; "Burden of Proof: The Greg Kelley Case" uses the words of those involved to hopefully enlighten the viewer.
Peace to you,
